Introduction of Ceramic Dimple
Ceramic dimple refers to regularly arranged tiny concave pits machined or sintered on the surface of alumina, zirconia and other engineering ceramics.
These concave textures are mostly produced by laser engraving, mould pressing or chemical etching, with controlled depth and diameter according to application requirements.
The dimples serve as miniature oil storage pockets. During relative movement between matching parts, stored lubricant continuously releases to form stable oil film, effectively reducing friction coefficient and wear loss of ceramic components.
Common application fields include ceramic bearing parts, textile porcelain eye, mechanical sealing plates and precision wear-resistant valve components. Compared with smooth ceramic surface, dimple-structured ceramics feature longer service life under high-speed and heavy-load working conditions.
